Detection distance

The distance when the standard detection target moves perpendicular to the detection surface, approaches the proximity sensor, and engages it.

検出距離

Hysteresis

The difference between the following distances: the distance at which the sensor switches on (operation) when the detection target approaches the detection surface and the distance when the sensor switches off (reset) when the detection target moves away.

Standard detection target

In general, a square metal object (with the thickness of one mm) with prescribed sides to match the shape of each sensor. Configure the detection distance with this target as the standard detection target.
Furthermore, in the case of a proximity sensor, if the detection target becomes smaller, detection distance also becomes smaller, and the detection distance also changes due to material, surface processing (plating), and so on.

Set distance

The distance for stable detection in consideration of temperature changes, voltage changes, aging, and other changes in the specified environment that change the detection distance. When you install a proximity sensor, set it near the detection target so that the distance between them is within the set distance.

Detection area diagram

The diagram indicates the operation area when the standard detection target runs parallel to and approaches the detection surface. The operation standard position of the detection target is section A of the detection target.
The positional relationship of the operation is bilateral.

Operation configuration

Normally open (NO) sensors change their output to on (operation) when the detection target is detected, and normally closed (NC) sensors change their output to off (reset) when the detection target is detected. Select the operation configuration in accordance with your usage.

Output (Open collector)

The collector of the output transistor (NPN or PNP) is an open type and can open and close currents of the rated load current and lower.
Please note that the output transistor will burn out if the proximity sensor is turned on by short-circuiting without connecting the load.
When using as a voltage output type, for NPN transistor open collector output, connect a load resistor externally between Vcc and OUT and use the voltage between OUT and GND as a control signal.
For the PNP transistor open collector output, connect a load resistor externally between OUT and GND and use the voltage between Vcc and OUT as a control signal.

Output (Open drain)

The output MOSFET drain is an open type and can directly open and close currents of the rated load current and lower.
Please note that the output MOSFET will burn out if the proximity sensor is turned on by short-circuiting without connecting the load.
When using as a voltage output type, for Nch MOSFET open drain output, connect a load resistor externally between Vcc and OUT and use the voltage between OUT and GND as a control signal.
For Pch MOSFET open drain output, connect a load resistor externally between OUT and GND and use the voltage between Vcc and OUT as a control signal.
