Precautions During Use

Rotation position sensors (digital potentiometers) Precautions During Use

Go back to the list of "all products"

About external magnetism

Do not expose the digital potentiometer to magnetism. Correct output voltage characteristics may not be obtained if the sensor is affected by a magnetic field. Check the surroundings before using the sensor.

About sources of magnetism

If there are magnetism sources (motor, solenoid, etc.) near the digital potentiometer, it may be affected by the magnetic field and correct output voltage characteristics may not be obtained. Check the surroundings before using the sensor.

About the installation

Use a torque of 58.8 N・cm (6 kgf・cm) or less to install the digital potentiometer. Note that the rotation torque value will increase if a torque higher than the specification is used.
Pay also attention not to apply to much load on the shaft when installing the potentiometer.

About power consumption

Use the potentiometer within the electrical effective angle.
The consumed power may greatly increase if the electrical effective angle is exceeded.

About performance

Do not remove the model sticker and do not touch the variable resistance.

About the operating environment

Avoid using or storing the sensors in locations subject to direct sunlight, with sudden temperature change, or where water, oil, chemicals, dust, or corrosive gases may contact the sensors. Note also that the sensors lifespan and performance are greatly affected by condensation and frost.

About the shaft load

Install the digital potentiometer so that no load is applied to its shaft. If the shaft rotates with load on it, the molded parts of the case and the shaft will wear and the correct performance will not be obtained.
Check the load before using the sensor.
