Precautions during use

  1. When using several LLS-3 sensors in a single tank, use models with different frequencies in combination in order to prevent mutual interference.
  2. This sensor is designed to directly detect the water level of tap water and boiling water in water heaters for tap water. To detect water level of pure water and purified water, use LLS-2L Series.
  3. Note that this sensor is not designed to detect the levels of liquids with low relative permittivity (εs), such as ice, alcohol, oil, and others.
  4. When using in a liquid which contains highly conductive substances such as salt, acid, and alkali solutions, this sensor can be electrically short-circuited and may not be able return a signal due to the conductivity between the sensing electrode and the inner wall of the tank. Be fully aware of the detection target before use to ensure proper application.
  5. Capacitance may not be sufficient when the tank is small or when its material is an insulator such as if it is constructed from plastic. In this case, attach an approx. 100 mm² electrically conductive metal plate to the bottom of the outer wall of the container and connect it to the power GND line of the sensor or other enclosure with an electrical wire.
  6. When using the sensor in tap water together with a water heater for extended periods, caustic lime and polluted sludge sediment contained in the water will gradually accumulate. When the concentrated impurities accumulate between the inner wall of the tank and sensing electrode, the sensor may not be able to return a signal. To avoid this, periodically clean the electrode and remove the accumulated sediment.
  7. The sensing electrode works by connection to part of an operating circuit. Be sure not to apply a voltage higher than the rated supply voltage to the electrode. Ensure sufficient dielectric strength between the water and utility power supply at the power supply for the sensor.
  8. M10 mounting nut must be tightened with a torque that does not exceed 1.5 N / m (15.4 kgf / cm).
  9. Electrode is secured with thread locking compound so never apply rotational force to it.
